Massimiliano Mechelli is an Italian musician, songwriter, guitarist and film composer.

He studied guitar, singing and piano at the ‘Testaccio’s Popular Music School’ from 2006 to 2012 playing every kind of music genre.

In 2012 he moved to London to attend the ‘Bachelor Degree in Popular Music, Guitar Performance’ at the ICMP. During the second year of degree he began to study ‘Scoring for Film’ with Maurizio Malagnini (known for ‘Paradise’, ‘Call the Midwife’) falling in love with this profession.

In 2016, he attended the ‘Master Degree in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games’, in Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, due to a scholarship gained for his previous and continuing achievements. In Valencia, he had the chance to record some of his cues with the Budapest Orchestra, and with several session musicians from the Palau de las Artes. During the Master Degree, he also got the privilege to record one of his cues, ‘Secret from the Sea’, at the Air Studios in London, conducting a 52 piece orchestra.

In 2017, he scored the short film ‘Petit’, directed by Asier Ramos. The film was screened in many festivals and it won the prize for ‘Best Soundtrack’ at the Festival en Cine en Corto de Vera.

In 2019 Massimiliano scored the first feature film of his career: ‘In the Trap‘ directed by Alessio Liguori for which the soundtrack was produced by ‘Cinevox‘. The film had reached 30 countries around the world.

In 2020 he scored ‘The Binding‘ (Il Legame) by Domenico De Feudis, produced by HT Film and Indigo, and released worldwide by Netflix.

In 2021 he scored ‘A Classic Horror Story‘ by Roberto De Feo and Paolo Strippoli, produced by Netflix and Colorado Film. The movie won the ‘Cariddi d’Argento‘ for best directing at the Taormina Film Festival in 2021.

In 2022 he scored the short film ‘Nostos’ by Mauro Zingarelli, which has been selected by the ‘SIC Venezia: Settimana Internazionale della Critica’

In 2022 he has been nominated for the Musicomics award held by RomicsSIAE and Nuovo IMAIE, in the ‘Best Soundtrack’ category for ‘A Classic Horror Story

In 2022 Massimiliano scored the Netflix series ‘The Law According to Lidia Poet‘ directed by Matteo Rovere and Letizia Lamartire. This series won the ‘Nastro d’Argento’ for ‘Best Crime Series’ in 2022.
